       Recently, in class we did an afro future digital collage. We had to write five concepts that were important to us. Then, we had to Incorporate the 5 elements of our design to represent concepts that we are passionate about and then use Afrofuturist visual techniques to impress them. The five concepts that was important to me were spiderman, Power (family), the Lion King (Simba), Sports, and myself. The original spiderman/ Peter parker who was played by Tobey Maguire had so much patience. In life, I have been through difficult times. It has been times when I wanted to quit, leave, or act a certain way that is not my character. Spiderman one, two, and three helped me understand that you always remain calm throughout the storm. My second concept was power (family). When people read a description about power or watch power, the first thing they think about is this show falls under the crime category. That is true, but one thing that I learned from this show, no matter what they go through, the main characters still had each other back because they were family. My family feuds a lot but no matter what we go through, we are still family. My third concept was The Lion King. Since I was young, I always wanted to prove myself to people. I always wanted to make everyone proud. Simba felt the same way when he was a teenager and ran away from home.  A childhood friend found him and implored him to comeback, but he felt that if he come back, he will be a disappointment because he feels like he is responsible for his father death and that he left home. After taking some time to think, he chose to go back and be king of his pride. It has been plenty of times I was disappointed in myself, and I felt that others were disappointed in me. I wanted to give up, but I kept going. Next concept was sports. Sports have played a huge role in my life. First lesson sports taught me was not to fear no one besides God. Lastly, my last concept was myself. I always keep a baby picture of me with my head high because no matter what I go through, I should be grateful of the positioned God has put me in. In conclusion, this ties in with visual communication.  In my VDCM class, we learned how pictures can have a deeper meaning. Those pictures are important to me because they are more than just images. Those pictures represent the person that I am today.

  Donell Pettus VDCM 230 (Intro To Comp Graphics) October 13th, 2023 Direct Effect Innovation "7"  The Washington Hilton- 1919 Connecticut Ave NW Washington, DC (10:00 AM)        On October 13, 2023, the Direct Effect Innovation hosted an event at the Washington Hilton on 1919 Connecticut Ave. This was a competition between schools around the world competing to make a pitch to the marketing judges for their brand. They had a book for all the students that participated.  This book was colorful. It seems like the book was covered with shining stars. I was very amazed how the front cover was different than the back cover. Both covers had greats designs on them.  The design team did a great job bolding the name of the book and making the fonts the main focal point. I want to say thank you to Direct Effect Innovation for inviting me again. It was a nice experience.

Donell Pettus VDCM 230 (Intro To Comp Graphics) October 10th, 2023 Washington Wizards Alternate Nike NBA City Uniforms 2022/2023 "5" Fine and Performance Arts Center (12:00 P.M)      First introduced in 2016, the City Edition uniforms is updated each year. While some teams have stuck with the same design for multiple seasons, others continually switch it up. These uniforms represent the stories, history, and heritage that make each franchise unique. This honors the inherent bond between the court, community, and culture. The design team at Nike collaboration worked closely with each team. Last season, the Washington Wizards and Nike design team came up with a Washington Wizards Cherry blossoms uniform.  The bloom city edition uniforms pay tribute to the city's iconic cherry blossoms. Washington, D. C's cherry blossoms represent hope and new beginnings. The planting of cherry trees in Washington, DC originated in 1912 as a gift of friendship to the people of the United

Donell Pettus- Bowie State University Black Broadway (Coronation) Event

Donell Pettus VDCM 230 (Intro To Comp Graphics) October 7th, 2023 Black Broadway (Coronation) Event "1" MLK Auditorium (7:30 P.M)                                                       Recently, Bowie State University hosted its Black Broadway coronation of the 31st & 77th Mister and Miss Bowie State University, Caleb Shaw-Watson & Trinity F. Cephas. This royal event took place on Wednesday October 4, 2023, at 7:30 P.M in the MLK auditorium. This event was phenomenal. The Bowie State royal court was unique. The royal’s outfits and the stage were filled with bright-colored. Visual communication was expressed throughout this whole event. Also, that includes the invitation flyer. Which is the first two pictures down below. In VDCM 230, we discussed how fashion designs can be created on photoshop and how it can be shown in different types of art.
